Dear Monthly Meeting clerks and M&O clerks:
At its called meeting in Wilmington late last month, the yearly meeting of ministry and oversight considered a number of possible actions which it might undertake to help support spiritual growth and nurture throughout the yearly meeting. These possibilities are discussed in the enclosed minutes.
Please give these possible actions consideration in your monthly meeting, either within ministry and oversight or in the meeting as a whole, and appoint representatives to the regular meeting of the yearly meeting of ministry and oversight who can report for your monthly meeting and (if appropriate) are ready personally to support one or more specific proposals in the coming year. At that meeting we will try to discern which of these proposals should be implemented in the coming year, and how that might happen.
All four of the called meetings of YM MEO this year were powerful spiritual experiences. I am excited by the interest and commitment Friends have shown in making YM MEO a more active body in nurturing the spiritual life and vitality of Friends throughout the yearly meeting.
Yearly Meeting of Ministry and Oversight will gather for worship at 4 PM on Seventh Month 9, 2003, in the Gallery of FounderŐs Hall at Guilford College. Our usual meeting for business will begin after supper that evening. I hope that every monthly meeting will be represented and that the spiritual momentum built up this past year will continue at that time. See you there!
